The company is not far from debuting the platform. But what type of content will be available to stream on CNN+, when will it release, and will it be exclusive to America? We have everything you need to know. You can also check out our similar guide for Netflix’s new social media platform, N-Plus.

When will CNN Plus release?

CNN+ will launch in spring 2022, according to an official press release.  We don’t yet have an exact month, and we assume that this release date is specific to the US rather than other territories. Speaking of which…

Where will CNN Plus launch?

The streaming platform will only be available in the US. However, CNN does have a global presence, so we wouldn’t be surprised to see an international expansion after the initial launch. CNN currently has international channels in the UK and Europe, Canada, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East and more. It’s likely that if it did expand, it would come to English speaking countries first so content can easily be transferred over. Of course, this is all speculation.

How much will CNN Plus cost?

CNN will offer both monthly and yearly subscriptions. The rolling plan will cost $5.99 per month, whilst the annual plan will cost $59.99 per month. However, users who subscribe within the first four weeks will get 50% off a monthly rolling plan for life, as long as they stay subscribed.  You can register your interest now over on the CNN+ website.

What will be on CNN Plus?

CNN Plus will boast eight to twelve hours of live programming per day, original series – some created specifically for the platform and others licensed from the network’s archived – as well as an interactive community that will create a conversation between subscribers, talent and experts. There will be factual programming such as news, as well as lifestyle content. Some of the biggest original shows to hit the platform include The Newscast with Wolf Blitzer, a traditional news programme with a modern twist, hosted by a long-time CNN correspondent.  Famous CNN face Anderson Cooper will have two shows on CNN+ – Parental Guidance, a series about working as a father and confronting everyday family issues, as well his current interview series Anderson Cooper Full Circle, which will move onto the live section of CNN+. Broadcaster Kate Bolduan will host Five Things, a morning show that counts down the five most important stories of the day. The show is inspired by the popular newsletter and podcast of the same name.  Former NBA player Rex Chapman will host his own series, interviewing athletes, entertainers and the general public. He’s not the only star to get a CNN+ original. There will also be shows hosted by Eva Longoria (a documentary exploring Mexico) and Scott Galloway (a show focusing on business and technology).  You will also be able to stream current CNN series such as Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy, This is Life with Lisa Ling and United Shades of America with W. Kamau Bell. Hannah Cowton is a Senior Staff Writer at Tech Advisor and Macworld, working across entertainment, consumer technology and lifestyle.
